“Identoba” filed an application to the European Court of Human Rights concerning the assault on the peaceful march dedicated to the International Day against Homophobia. The march, which was organized by “Identoba”, took place on the main avenue of Tbilisi, Georgia on May 17, 2012. However, it was discontinued after religious extremists and representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church blocked the demonstration and physically assaulted its participants. Even though police were present at the site of the march, they failed to effectively and timely interfere and protect.
